Housing Support - What You Need To Know
We understand that housing issues can be stressful. If you need help with a housing application, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Apply for Housing Through Your Local Council
Housing applications are managed by Newham Council. You must apply online through My Newham:

Step 2: If Applying for Medical Priority Housing
If you are applying for a council home due to medical reasons, follow these steps:
1ïžâŁ Complete the councilâs Medical Application Form:Click here
2ïžâŁ Gather relevant medical evidence to support your application, such as:
- Medical letters or reports
- Prescription records
- Occupational health reports
- Hospital discharge summaries
- Patient summary from your GP - you can request this here
3ïžâŁ Submit your application by email:

âïž Use this subject line: âMedicalâ + First line of your address + Application reference number

If you want to include medical details in your application, the best way is to use your own medical record.

Important Information
đ« We do not provide letters of support for housing applications, as they are rarely needed and often do not impact the outcome.
đ© If the council needs extra medical details, they will contact us directly with your consent.
đ° There is a charge for any medical reports requested by third parties. To view fees: Click here
Can I Still Request a Letter?
Patients can request a letter, but this is considered non-NHS work and will incur a charge of ÂŁ40.
- We only provide factual information and do not offer opinions on housing applications.
- If we cannot fulfill a request, we may issue a copy of your medical records instead.
Need Urgent Help? Are You Homeless or About to Lose Your Home?
If you donât have anywhere to live, or youâre about to be evicted, you may be able to get emergency help.
Contact Newham Councilâs Homelessness Prevention and Advice Service (HPAS) right away.
â They can help if:
- Youâre homeless
- Youâre staying with friends or family and must leave soon
- Youâre being evicted or at risk of losing your home
