Patient Alert: Stay Safe from Scam Calls and Messages
We want to keep you informed about a scam targeting GP practice patients. A member of staff recently reported receiving an automated call claiming to be from their GP practice. The message asked them to update personal details online and warned that failing to do so could result in removal from the practice list.
Here’s how to stay safe:
- Be Cautious: Avoid sharing personal details in response to unexpected calls, texts, or emails.
- Know Our Practice Policy:
- We will never threaten to suspend or remove you by text message.
- We may share helpful information via text, such as:
- Advice leaflets or service information and updates (with links).
- Feedback requests with links.
- Requests to update details like smoking status or ethnicity (via a secure link).
- Appointment booking links.
- Requests for photos related to a condition you’ve already discussed with us.
- Verify Communications: If you’re unsure about a message, contact us directly through our official phone number or email to confirm its authenticity.
